Suffolk Village of the Year 2023

Community Council News, May 2018

Cockfield Community Cinema

What a success Paddington 2 was – well done to Julie and her team, it was the best attendance yet with 66 adults and 7 children roaring with laughter at a great film.

After Mays showing had to be a week early because of the Art Show it’s back on track for June’s Cinema Showing on 22nd when we will be presenting The Darkest Hour – a brilliant well acclaimed film and don’t worry if you have seen it already there always seems to be more to get from it no matter if it’s the second or fifth time of watching. We follow this with Finding Your Feet on Friday 27th July.

As always the doors open at 7.00 pm and the film starts at 7.30 pm, popcorn, sweets and ice creams are available in the interval and there is a licensed bar and teas and coffee are served.

As you know, we post the trailers for our films on the village website at, www.cockfield.org.uk/community-council/cockfield-cinema/ so why not take a look and see what’s coming up in the near future.

Richard Whymark also had us all laughing on the 21st April with his new routines, his humour is very simple but offers an good insight into the human psyche.

The 4th Annual Cockfield Art Show will have been and gone by the time Green Links is published there will be a full report next month.

The Village Show isn’t until the 9th September  but planning has already started, the Community Council is trying to give it a different feel this year. If you have any suggestions they would be pleased to hear from you.

The  ABBA tribute evening is on 17th November. Please keep the date free – more details of cost etc will be available soon.

There continues to be a full program of Country & Western Evenings and Cockfield Community Cinema.

Details of all our events will appear in Green Links, the Village website, www.cockfield.org.uk and will be circulated through our Community Council e-mail distribution list. If you wish to be included on the list, which is an excellent source of information about local events, please follow the link in the footer of the website.

Waste paper collection

The next waste paper collection will be on Sundays 27th May, 24th June and 29th July. As usual, collections will start at 9.00 am. These collections are an important source of funds for the Community Council so please leave your papers out for the collectors. If you should find you have a lot of paper and card building up you don’t have to wait for the last Sunday in the month to off load it, paper and cardboard  can always be dropped off at the Dutch Barn at Cockfield Hall.
