The Planning Application for 42 homes and 9 self-build plots was approved at Babergh District Council Planning Committee on 21st March 2018.
The Parish Council is pleased with the result as this is going to provide a mixed development to help satisfy the housing needs for the residents of Cockfield.
After working with Suffolk County Council, Babergh District Council and Orwell Housing Association for several years we as a Parish Council intend to help develop this asset to enhance the whole area.
We have shared the plans with the village but wish to remind those interested in any of the properties that the development includes 12 affordable rented homes, 6 affordable shared ownership properties, 5 homes for first time buyers, 5 bungalows for those wanting to downsize and 14 open market houses. There will also be plots for 9 self-builds.
Speaking with Orwell Housing the process is that various agreements have to be drawn up and signed off before development takes place. This is normal procedure but all parties are keen to see progress.
We will continue to keep the village informed. If you have any queries please contact the Parish Council Clerk who can advise you at this stage.
